Junior and Senior Book Club met for their Christmas club on Friday 18th December. The Senior members helped guide the Junior members in their discussion of Neil Gaiman’s Coraline. All of the Junior members were enthusiastic in their response to their first book club text. Some welcome chocolate Christmas treats also helped the discussion along.
Following the discussion the Junior Students were brought to a table to choose their next text. This was selection with a bit of a difference as several covered books had been placed on a table with a blurb about each one written on the outside. This was to help students not to “judge the book by its cover”. The students were intrigued and delighted to choose their books for some Christmas reading for pleasure.
The Senior members of Book Club then turned to their own selection for some Christmas reading- a change of genre for the group- the work of John Grisham. Each member has a different book from the Grisham collection and will discuss the author and his style at the next meeting in 2016. We look forward to a lively discussion!
